Proving our Pedaling Mettle: CEO Mark Norman Bikes to Work
Awesome, just awesome! Flexcar's CEO, Mark Norman, has closed the deal and kicked off what will hopefully be an ongoing, inspiring practice of bicycling to work. After a heavy-travel month in investor roadshow mode, Mark, along with Flexcyclist entourage Luke, Max, and me, pedaled from Arlington via Georgetown (and leisurely Starbucks pitstop), along the Rock Creek Park Trail, through the monument-bestrewn National Mall, past a gleaming U.S. Capitol, down the historic-neighborhood 6th St., N.E., bike lane, and via the funky New York Metro trail segment, into the office. What a great way to start the day and arrive at work! And, what a tremendously powerful symbol of Flexcar's strong and ever-growing commitment to changing transportation and changing the world, in a smart, simple, and truly sustainable way. Booyah!!

VPO = Veloci-Pedals to Office
Holy flexing bike-commute, batman! These people are serious. Today, in a marathon (literally almost 26.2-mile) trek, Griff Long, our triathlete-in-training and Flexcar's Vice President of Operations, pedaled to Flexcar DC from Gaithersburg, MD! It's officially viral. Worthy of note and recognition: In Griff's journey of bike commuting, not only was great physical distance covered today, but so too was much conceptual distance marked by the former SUV driver and once avowedly non-treehugger. You go, Griff!!! Next, Team Flexcar DC will help hone this bike commute to a more sustainable ~17 miles through the miracle of better cue sheets and wayfinding. No more detours through the greater Delmarva peninsula!

CTO = Cycles To Office
Breaking news! New Flexcar bike commuter Luke Schneider, our Chief Technology Officer and VP of Strategy, hopped on the mountain bike this morning and pedaled ten miles, much of it via parks & trails, into the Flexcar DC office. Whoohooo!! This breakthrough -- representing the conversion of one who only recently claimed to have gasoline in his veins -- has spurred a bit of friendly Flexcar CXO and VP competition to bike to work from some of the further-flung leafy suburbs outside of the District. Stay tuned for more news of Flexcar suits-on-bikes!!
